Belle trains and manages a network of nail technicians or “Belle Technicians” who provide in-home foot care (aka medical pedicures). While in the home, Belle Technicians complete assessments and screenings, often being the first to identify emerging issues below and above the knee. About this Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our dynamic and thoughtful team. With over 15 years of experience in critical application infrastructure, the ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise, particularly from working within regulated industries such as fintech or healthcare. This role will be pivotal in building a highly performant API which will:

• Support our mobile application for our in-home workforce
• Enable experimentation of internal workflows
• Integrate critical 3rd party tools

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a scalable, secure, and highly performant API architecture.
• Leverage expertise in Go and Ruby on Rails to develop robust backend systems and integrations.
• Ensure the highest level of system and infrastructure availability, performance, and security, particularly in handling sensitive healthcare data in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and define project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
• Exhibit extreme ownership over projects, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving skills and a commitment to project integrity and deadlines.
• Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure and development practices for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
• Lead by example in coding practices, documentation, and code review.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Stay apprised of emerging technologies and trends that could impact our services or offer new opportunities. 

Experience, Skills, & Personality

•  15+ years of experience in critical application infrastructure development, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in regulated industries (e.g. fintech, healthcare).
• Proven expertise in Go, Ruby on Rails, AWS, and Postgresql.
• Committed to application performance monitoring and observability, with proven experience using tools like Prometheus for setting up metrics, monitoring application health, and ensuring high system reliability.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with AWS, including but not limited to EC2, Fargate, ECS, RDS/Aurora, S3, Lambda, and CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Strong understanding of API security frameworks, tokens, and best practices.
• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage projects with integrity and ensure deliverables are met on time.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
